This is a commemorative poster featuring Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, Commander in Chief of the Pacific Fleet during World War II. The poster combines a black-and-white photograph of Nimitz in military uniform against a colorized American flag background. The text describes his role in supporting codebreakers prior to the Battle of Midway, including the famous 'AF' deception operation involving a fake plain-English radio message about fresh-water machinery.
