The drill is in advance of an upcoming Naval Surface Forces-led two-day Readiness for Sea Assessment that assesses crew proficiency in propulsion, navigation and watch team proficiency, and certifies a ship as deployment ready. Bonhomme Richard, forward-deployed to Sasebo, Japan, is serving forward to provide a rapid-response capability in the event of a regional contingency or natural disaster.
