The last of the operational Mi-17 helicopters stationed at Fort Rucker, Ala., is loaded for shipment to Afghanistan. Training of Afghan army pilots is shifting from Mi-17s to UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters. The Aviation and Missile Command’s Aviation Center Logistics Command was charged with the facilitation and oversight of maintenance of the Mi-17s during the seven years the training program was stationed at Fort Rucker.
