Col. Ian R. Clark, commanding officer, Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton, Calif., presents a certificate of commendation to Tommie "T.C." Allen, Jan. 4, 2018. Allen joined the Marine Corps on June 5, 1960 from Dallas. During his time on active duty, he served in Vietnam, Japan and California, by the time he retired in 1988 as a master gunnery sergeant. However, his service did not end there. The following year, Allen returned to the Marine Corps workforce as a civilian employee, serving in various roles with in the fuel departments aboard Marine Corps Air Stations Camp Pendleton and El Toro for another 28 years.
