A person is holding a freshly caught brown trout (Salmo trutta) with distinctive red and brown spots with white halos visible along its golden-yellow body. A small fishing lure with a yellow component is hooked in the fish's mouth, and fishing line is visible. The photo is taken outdoors with green trees and grass visible in the background.

This 3-pound brown trout was caught by an angler on July 31, 2017, at Fort McCoy, Wis. It was one of the largest trout caught at the installation during the year. The early catch-and-release trout season for 2018 has started in Wisconsin and at Fort McCoy and continues through May 4. (U.S. Army Photo by Scott T.
