Sgt. Roy, a military working dog with 1st Marine Raider Battalion, detects an improvised explosive device while training to capture and evacuate a high-value target on Camp Pendleton, Calif., Jan. 10, 2018. The working dogs are trained in tracking scents and explosives, as well as attacking and subduing any threats or targets that MARSOC Marines may encounter, while in a deployed environment. MARSOC is tasked to train, organize, equip and deploy task organized, scalable and responsive U.S. Marine Corps Special Operations Forces worldwide to conduct foreign internal defense, special reconnaissance, and direct action in support of combatant commanders and other agencies.
