Contract workers make progress on temporary repairs at the Lares Police Station in Lares, Puerto Rico Jan. 9 as part of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Critical Public Facilities mission. The goal of the mission, in support of the Federal Emergency Management Agency's response to Hurricane Maria, is to allow critical public facilities to function as needed. During Hurricane Maria, the Lares Police Station experienced significant damage to the front exterior wall of the main entrance as a result of hurricane-strength winds, posing a security risk.
