Maxwell AFB, AL - Retired U.S. Army Brigadier General (Dr.) Rhonda Cornum one of the Eagles for Gathering of Eagles speaks about being a Prisoner of War during Desert Storm and how she coped/survived during that time. GOE program brings together aviation heroes and pioneers to share their experiences and provide inspiration to future aviation leaders. Thie theme for GOE 2017 is Desert Storm. The helicopter Dr. Cornum was in was shot down Feb 27 1991 while on a search and rescue mission. Dr. Cornum was one of three survivors of the crash, she suffered gunshot wound, two broken arms, blown knee ligament and other injuries not as severe. She and the other two survivors were captured and subjected to abuse by the Iraqi Forces. Dr. Cornum was repatriated March 6, 1991.
