Maj. Gen. Terry A. Wolff (right), 1st Armored Division, outgoing commander, and Gen. James D. Thurman, commanding general U.S. Army Forces Command, uncase the 1AD colors, officially returning the last U.S. armored division to U.S. soil after more than 40 years, during the 1st Armored Division Change of Command ceremony at Fort Bliss Noel Field, May 24. The ceremony officially appoints Pittard the commanding general of Fort Bliss and the 1AD and announces the reflagging of 1AD to U.S. soil after more than 40 years.
