Sgt. Maj. Samuel Stoker, operations sergeant major with 2nd “Dagger” Advise and Assist Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, United States Division – Center and a Petaluma, Calif., native, runs in a 10-kilometer Fallen Hero Run May 22, 2011, at Camp Liberty, Iraq. Stoker dedicated his run to Sgt. Robert Montgomery, who was with C Troop, 1st Squadron, 40th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, when he died May 22, 2007 in Jabour, Iraq as a result of wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his unit.
