(Dec.20, 2017) Sailors assigned to the Virginia-class, fast-attack submarine, USS Colorado (SSN 788), participate in Toys for Tots charity event by delivering toys and cash donations to the Thames River Detachment, Marine Corps League, DEC. 20. Members of Colorado's First Class Petty Officer Association(FCPOA) came up with the idea to promote the charity during Colorado's recent underway. The crew returned to their home port with just a few days left to shop and donate before Toys for Tot's delivery deadline for this year's Christmas holiday. Colorado is a new vessel that’s set to be commission in March 2018. This year marks the first year Colorado participated in the Toys for Tots Charity event. Colorado's donations will be distributed to fulfil the local community request and will directly contribute to the missions and goals of the Toys for Tots Program to deliver a new toy at Christmas and a message of hope to economically disadvantaged children.
