    Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Japan Rear Adm. Dan Cloyd and other guests congratulate Vice Adm. Tomohisa Takei of the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force following an award ceremony at CNFJ headquarters. Cloyd presented Takei the Legion of Merit on behalf of U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates. The award was presented as recognition for Takei's exceptional leadership and expertise in maturing and expanding the JMSDF and U.S. Navy partnership during his role as director of operations and plans department, JMSDF Maritime Staff Office from April 2008 to July 2010.
