U.S. Army Lt. Col. James Vizzard, commander of 1st Battalion, 6th Field Artillery Regiment, Task Force Centaur, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, TF Duke from Fort Knox, Ky., promotes U.S. Army Sgt. Tameiko Snell, a native of Cottonwood, Ala., to staff sergeant at a ceremony at Forward Operating Base Salerno, Afghanistan, May 7. Snell was one of only three out of the brigade roughly 3,500 soldiers to be awarded a battlefield promotion, which allows a soldier who regularly goes above and beyond the expectations of him to avoid most of the examination and administration requirements for promotion.
