A mountain of fresh Christmas trees rests on the fantail of the Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw in Chicago Dec. 1, 2017 to help reenact a Christmas tradition dating back to the late 1800s. The trees, purchased by the Chicago’s Christmas Ship Committee with private donations, will be presented to community organizations for needy families throughout Chicago.
