U.S. Army 1st Inf. Div. Command Sgt. Maj. Jim Champagne speaks to the more than 400 in attendance at the 2011 Kansas State University Men's Basketball Awards Banquet in Bramlage Coliseum April 27. He and Public Affairs Officer Lt. Col. Sophie Gainey presented Jamar Samuels with the "Never Broken" award. Presented on behalf of Lt. Col. Andrew Gainey, 1st Bn., 7th FA Regt., 2nd HBCT commander and Command Sgt. Maj. William Bauer, unit command sergeant major, both of whom are deployed to Iraq in support of Operation New Dawn, the award commemorates the partnership between the Wildcats and the "First Lightning" Battalion.
