    New cold-weather operations training season begins in December at Fort McCoy

    Mike Nguyen, former Marine Corps infantry noncommissioned officer and one of three new instructors for the Fort McCoy Cold-Weather Operations Course, or CWOC, puts an ahkio sled into place Nov. 15, 2017 while setting up equipment for training at Fort McCoy, Wis. The CWOC is coordinated through the Fort McCoy Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security and the first of six courses during the winter of 2017-18 begins on Dec. 2, 2017. In the course, students learn on a variety of cold-weather subjects, including skiing and snowshoe training as well as how to use ahkio sleds and the Arctic 10-person cold-weather tent.
