Staff Sgt. William D. Henley Jr., 47, presents a slice of cake to Lance Cpl. Vivianlee P. Aguero, 19, both with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 (Reinforced), during the Marine Corps Birthday Ball ceremony at Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, Okinawa, Japan, Nov. 11, 2017. During the ball each year, the oldest Marine presents a slice of cake to the youngest Marine to symbolize the passing of Marine Corps heritage between generations of Marines. Henley is the airframes staff noncommissioned officer in charge and a native of Winchester, Tennessee. Aguero is an embarkation specialist and a native of Tamuning, Guam. Each year, Marines around the globe gather to celebrate the founding of the Marine Corps, Nov. 10, 1775. The squadron, which serves as the Aviation Combat Element of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, gathered to share memories of the previous year, which included support of the 31st MEU during its Spring Patrol of the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
