Representatives from FEMA assist local residents at Isidoro Garcia Stadium in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, November 14, 2017. Agency and local specialists provided not only food and water, but were able to guide families through legal counsel and housing needs. On Wednesday, September 20, Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico as a powerful Category 4 hurricane. Since then, FEMA, along with numerous other agencies, have flocked to the island to aid with recovery efforts. The storm has been mantled as the strongest hurricane to hit Puerto Rico in more than 80 years.
