French Col. Jean-Francois Vasseur, commander of the Epidote Cell 27th, French Contingent, places battle streamers on the 26th “Yankee” Brigade’s colors during a French Croix de Guerre Re-presentation Ceremony in Patriot Square, Camp Phoenix, Afghanistan, April 28, 2011. The 26th, commanded by Col. John A. Hammond, traces its lineage to the 26th Infantry Division which was awarded the Croix de Guerre in World Wars I and II for service in France.
