U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Mark Schmidt, with the 315th Airlift Control Flight from Charleston Air Force Base, S.C., observes flight line operations during Patriot Hook 2011, at North Island Naval Air Station, April 14, 2011. Patriot Hook is an annual Air Force Reserve Tanker Airlift Control Element (TALCE) exercise simulating a joint force response to a natural disaster in a forward deployed location. The exercise deploys three TALCE units and brings together units of the Air Force Reserve, Navy, Department of Homeland Security and other federal agencies.
