Retired U.S. Army Capt. Gary M. Rose, a Medal of Honor recipient, is inducted into the Pentagon’s Hall of Heroes during a ceremony presided over by Deputy Secretary of Defense Pat Shanahan, Acting Secretary of the Army Ryan D. McCarthy, and the U.S. Army Vice Chief of Staff Gen. James McConville at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., Oct. 24, 2017. Rose received the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions during Operation Tailwind in September 1970, during which he provided medical care to more than 60 service members while under fire.
