A Marine conducts a martial arts test during a Martial Arts Instructor Course on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Oct. 19, 2017. The Marines undergo a three week course to become MAI, which will challenge the Marines physically and mentally. As the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployable unit, the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit air-ground-logistics team provides a flexible force, ready to perform a wide range of military operations, from limited combat to humanitarian assistance operations, throughout the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
