A registered nurse at Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla, Calif., uses an ultrasound device to locate a vein in the arm of Ship's Serviceman Seaman Brittany Barr before a blood stem cell donation to benefit a patient diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome. Barr, assigned to Fleet and Industrial Supply Center San Diego, agreed to donate her cells to the same patient she previously donated bone marrow to in 2008 through the Department of Defense Marrow Donor Center.
