ARABIAN GULF (July 18, 2017) The Ticonderoga-Class Navy Cruiser USS Lake Erie (CG 70) assists 5 Coastal Patrol Ships assigned to Coastal Patrol Squadron (PCRON) 1 with a test and proficiency fire of their Griffin Missile Systems in the Arabian Gulf, July 18. Lake Erie is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations to reassure allies and partners, and preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
