Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron-1

U.S. Infantry Marines with Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines embark onto a U.S. Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey assigned to Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One (MAWTS-1) during Assault Support Tactics 3 (AST-3) in support of Weapons and Tactics Instructor course (WTI) 1-18 at Twentynine Palms, Calif., on Oct. 13, 2017. AST-3 is an exercise focused on conducting a noncombatant evacuation operation (NEO) in an urban environment while concurrently providing foreign humanitarian assistance (FHA) to the simulated host nation. WTI is a seven-week training event hosted by MAWTS-1 cadre, which emphasizes operational integration of the six functions of Marine Aviation in support of a Marine Air Ground Task Force and provides standardized advanced tactical training and certification of unit instructor qualifications to support Marine Aviation Training and Readiness and assists in developing and employing aviation weapons and tactics (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl.
