U.S. Air Force enlisted members applying for a commission must go through a selection process during which their leadership potential, moral standards and academic strengths are evaluated. Once selected, prospective officers attending Officer Training School are challenged physically and mentally as they learn about military management, leadership fundamentals and Air Force culture before earning the rank of second lieutenant.
