171007-N-SZ865-021 PONCE, Puerto Rico (Oct. 7, 2017) Command Master Chief Petty Officer Kevin Goodrich, Command Master Chief, Expeditionary Strike Group 2, embarked aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3), secures a line from a rigid-hull inflatable boat carrying Sailors assigned to the amphibious dock landing ship USS Oak Hill (LSD 51) to help clean a park in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Kearsarge and Oak Hill are assisting with relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. The Department of Defense is supporting the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the lead federal agency, in helping those affected by Hurricane Maria to minimize suffering and is one component of the overall whole-of-government response effort.
