U.S. Marine Cpl. Jacob Mott, a squad leader with Battalion Landing Team, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, and a Philippine Marine conduct a detailed search during exercise KAMANDAG on Katungkulan Beach, Ternate, Philippines, Oct. 2, 2017. Elements of the 31st MEU are currently supporting the 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, participating in exercise KAMANDAG. Bilateral exercises such as KAMANDAG increase the ability of the United States and the Philippines to rapidly respond and work together during real world terrorist or humanitarian crises, in order to accomplish the mission, support the local population and help mitigate human suffering.(U.S. Marine Corps Photo by Cpl.
