A U.S. Army Soldier, assigned to 23rd Brigade Engineer Battalion, 1-2 Stryker Brigade Combat Team, digs out embers burning beneath tree roots, known as hot spots, in the Umpqua North Complex, Oregon, Sept 13. The Soldiers have been putting their tactical firefighting training to good use, helping the Bureau of Land Management firefighters combat the Umpqua National Forest wildfires.
