An F-16 Fighting Falcon, assigned to the 149th Fighter Wing, Air National Guard, painted with World War II heritage markings, takes off during a training flight at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas, Sept. 21, 2017. The 149th FW received authorization for the nonstandard markings in order to commemorate the U.S. Air Force 70th anniversary. The markings represent the lineage of the 149th FW that dates back to a 1944 paint scheme of the 396th Fighter Squadron which flew P-47s . (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman James Crow)
