Lt. Col. Ty Shepard, California National Guard and a representative of U.S. Embassy-Kyiv, briefed Ukrainian Col. Marat Utiushev, head of the Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance department of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and other Ukrainian service members during the Command Post Exercise as part of Rapid Trident 17, Sept. 14, 2017, at the International Peacekeeping Security Center in Yavoriv, Ukraine. This portion of the exercise is designed to train unit commanders and their staff. The CPX uses simulated events to exercise their communication channels with higher headquarters and any subordinate units.
