ATLANTIC OCEAN (Sept. 11, 2017) Master Chief Navy Diver Russ Ciardiello, of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and Chief (Sel.) Logistics Specialist Jason Ryan, of Leavenworth, Kansas, assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Expeditionary Support Unit (EODESU) 2, verify the correct amount of meals-ready-to-eat and cases of water are accounted for in the lower vehicle stowage of the amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) in preparation for disaster relief efforts. The preparations ensure Iwo Jima is ready to respond to any requests to bolster Northern Command's support of Federal Emergency Management Agency's assistance to federal, state and local authorities' ongoing relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.
