U.S. Soldiers assigned to U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC) and Japanese Ground Self-Defense Forces (JGSDF) stand in formation prior to the official opening ceremony of Exercise Orient Shield 2017 at Camp Shin-Yokotsuka, Sept. 11, 2017. Exercise Orient Shield is an annual, bilateral exercise cosponsored by the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force and U.S. Army Pacific.
