Soldiers from the 111th Multifunctional Medical Battalion, Texas Army National Guard, deployed to Joint Base San Antonio-Camp Bullis, Texas, gear up and load trucks with medical supplies, water, meals ready-to-eat and general purpose movement tents Aug. 29, 2017. The 111th MMB is assisting with humanitarian relief efforts in Houston following Hurricane Harvey. Texas Governor Greg Abbott activated the entire Texas National Guard in response to Hurricane Harvey, bringing the total number of deployed guardsmen to roughly 12,000. The Guardsmen are assisting with ongoing search and rescue effort, and are heavily involved with extensive recovery effort in the aftermath of the storm.
