Two soldiers in different military uniforms are running across an open dirt field during what appears to be a joint military training exercise. The foreground soldier wears MARPAT (US Marine Corps) camouflage with full tactical gear including a helmet and backpack, while the background soldier wears a different camouflage pattern with a yellow-banded helmet. Motion blur from panning photography emphasizes the speed and dynamic movement of the subjects.

A U.S. Marine and Japan Ground Self-Defense Force member rush out of an MV-22 Osprey at Hokkaido, Japan, August 18, 2017, in support of Northern Viper 2017. This exercise tests the interoperability and bilateral capability of the JGSDF and U.S. Marine Corps forces to work together and provides the opportunity to conduct realistic training in an unfamiliar environment. This combined-joint exercise is held to enhance regional cooperation between participating nations to collectively deter security threats. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Andy Martinez)
