A sample of blood is taken from Kimber James, a donor during the Japanese Red Cross Society blood drive, at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, Aug. 23, 2017. The American Red Cross teamed up with the Japanese Red Cross Society to help collect blood for hospitals in Yamaguchi Prefecture. The blood samples taken were used to test for iron levels. If a donor’s iron is too low they would be ineligible to donate blood. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Gabriela Garcia)
