André Desmarlières, Mayor of Brugelette, Belgium and LTC Bill Lovell, Command Chaplain for USAG Benelux lay flowers at a monument during the memorial ceremony for Belgian Lt. Col. Joseph Daumerie, Aug. 15, 2017, Brugelette, Belgium. The memorial commemorates the 75th anniversary of Daumerie's death. Daumerie is a war hero and fighter pilot who was executed in 1942 during World War II. The event offered a unique opportunity for the U.S. service members to honor a fallen hero and strengthen their relationship with NATO allies during the U.S. Army Garrison Benelux's 50th anniversary in Belgium.
