170801-N-NT795-690 ASTORIA, Ore., (July 31, 2017) Boatswain’s Mate 1st Class Mark Gipson, assigned to Coastal Riverine Group (CRG) 1 training and evaluation unit, cast off the forward line onboard a MKVI patrol boat during the delivery transit of the two newest MKVI patrol boats from Tacoma, Washington to San Diego, Calif., spearheaded by SAFE Boats International (SBI). U.S. Navy awarded SBI the contract to build and designed MKVI patrol boats for optimal performance, fuel economy and firepower as part of the Navy Expeditionary Combat Command’s (NECC) fleet of combatant craft. CRG provides a core capability to defend designated high value assets throughout the green and blue-water environment and providing deployable Adaptive Force Packages (AFP) worldwide in an integrated, joint and combined theater of operations.
