Timor-Leste Pvt. Francisco Pinto takes part in a simulated assault during Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Timor-Leste 2017 at Metinaro Training Base, Timor-Leste, Aug. 3, 2017. CARAT is a bilateral exercise series between the U.S. Navy and the armed forces of eight partner nations in South and Southeast Asia which contributes to regional security and stability by providing a credible venue to share best practices and practice cooperation in response to shared maritime security challenges.
