170731-N-AC254-089 PACIFIC OCEAN (July 31, 2017) Fire Controlman 2nd Class Beatriz Morris, a native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), fires an M4 carbine as part of security reaction force qualifications during a live fire exercise on the ship’s port elevator. America, part of the America Amphibious Ready Group, with embarked 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, is operating in the Indo-Asia Pacific region to strengthen partnerships and serve as a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
