ARTA BEACH, Djibouti (July 8, 2017) Lance Cpl. Joseph Garro, a radio operator with 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment fires the 50 Cal. heavy machine gun, during mounted machine gun training, as part of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit sustainment training on Arta Beach, Djibouti July 8, 2017. Marines with the 24th MEU conduct sustainment training while deployed with the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group to demonstrate their capabilities to train for extended periods of time in the field. Bataan and its ARG are deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations designed to reassure allies and partners and preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
