Nathan Oltorik, a participant of the 2017 Summer Leadership and Character Development Academy (SLCDA) shovels mulch into a wheel barrow during a volunteer event at Merrimac Farm, Quantico, Va., July 21. The SLCDA is a six-day summer program designed to prepare rising high school juniors and seniors for college by introducing them to Marine Corps skills, ethics, character development, teamwork and camaraderie.
