A man in a dark striped polo shirt is speaking or presenting to a large seated audience in what appears to be a hotel ballroom or conference venue. Many audience members are wearing matching navy blue t-shirts with what appears to be a 'Semper Fidelis' or Marine Corps-related logo, suggesting a military-affiliated event. The speaker is standing elevated, using hand gestures, and wearing a lapel microphone.

Rye Barcott, Marine Corps veteran and author, talks about his humanitarian work during in Africa during the inaugural Battles Won Academy in Washington D.C., July 16, 2017. The Battles Won Academy is a part of the Marine Corps’ Semper Fidelis All-American Program, which recognizes young men and women who excel in athletics, but have also shown themselves to be leaders in the classroom and in their hometowns. Ninety-seven high school student-athletes attended the academy, which focused on developing their self-confidence, discipline, teamwork, and honing the fighting spirit that embodies the Marine Corps.
