Col. Tom Bladen, 104th Fighter Wing operations group commander, visits refugee students at Highland Elementary School in Westfield, Massachusetts, June 26, 2017. The students received a 104th Fighter Wing patch and raised the patch up high while taking a photo with Col. Bladen after hearing about the 104th Fighter Wing mission to protect and serve. The visit served as a means to help the children understand why they hear the loud screeching F15 jets flying overhead when playing outside and to help them understand the 104th Fighter Wing flies to protect. Bladen speaks to the students about the F-15 Eagle and explains to the refugee students on how the pilots practice a lot just as soccer players practice.
