Maj. (Dr.) Luisa Watts, Wright-Patterson Medical Center staff pathologist, submerges biological samples of interest, gathered in a pathological grossing, into a container of the preservative formalin in advance of preparing them for processing by histology technicians. The material will be placed onto glass slides for microscopic examination. Watts, along with three other staff pathologists at the WPMC, use information doctors provide, along with reviews of biological materials and reference materials, in forming their diagnoses.
