Soldiers of the 1st Battalion, 68th Armor Regiment conduct weapons clearing and maintenance classes. The soldiers are briefed on weapons status, clearing procedures and weapons maintenance prior to every mission. Squad leaders and platoon sergeants are also required to conduct monthly weapons training sessions. The accident rate in USD-S has declined by a third since the beginning of 2010.
