Meehan, a civil affairs specialist with 4th Civil Affairs Group, visited Creece, a teacher in and native of Trinidad and Tobago, while participating in Phase II of Exercise Tradewinds 2017 in Chaguaramas. Meehan and other Marines visited the school days before to donate sports equipment as part of a community relations event. Tradewinds is a U.S. Southern Command-sponsored annual exercise involving 20 nations focusing on increasing the interoperability of the participating nations to promote the security of the Caribbean region.
