Rocky Mountain Dawgs Project and the 460th Security Forces Squadron hosted the 3rd annual RMDP Iron Dog Competition June 10, 2017 on Buckley Air Force Base, Colo. The RMDP Iron Dog Competition is held in honor of Cpl. David Sonka and multi-purpose canine Flex, who were killed in action May 4, 2014, in Farah Province, Afghanistan. During the competition, each military working dog and handler were tested in six categories: an endurance hike with medical scenarios every quarter mile; explosive detection; off-leash tactical obedience course with gunfire; a traffic stop; locating personnel in field; hardest hitting/fastest dog.
