170616-N-IO414-219 SASEBO, Japan (June 16, 2017) Sailors assigned to Avenger-class mine countermeasures ship USS Patriot (MCM 7) play tug-of-war with Sailors assigned to Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force coastal minesweeper Hirashima (MSC 601) during a bilateral command picnic. This picnic is part of ongoing engagements between Sailors of both forces that are meant to enhance friendship, teamwork and mutual understanding for future bilateral exercises that improve and strengthen the U.S.-Japan alliance.
