DES MOINES, Iowa-- U.S. Army Reserve Col Jerry Betzler, outgoing commander of the 7456th Medical Backfill Battalion, passes the unit colors to Col. Louis Feliciano, commander of the Central Medical Area Readiness Support Group, who passes them to the incoming commander, Col. James Kerby, during a Change of Command Ceremony held on Saturday, June 10 at the Fort Des Moines Army Reserve Center. The Change of Command ceremony symbolizes the continuation of leadership and unit identity despite the change in individual authority; it also represents the transfer of power from one individual to another. Passing the ceremonial flag from the old commander to the new commander physically represents this transfer. (Photo by Maj. A. Sean Taylor, U.S. Army Reserve)
